Hui Si is an incoming principal investigator at the Institute of Molecular Biology, Academia Sinica, where she will start her laboratory in January 2026. She is interested in using mutations as tools to understand how chromatin regulators and histone proteins control gene regulation.
She grew up in Singapore and received her PhD in cancer biology from National University of Singapore, where she elucidated the roles of lineage-defining transcription factors and histone lysine acetyltransferases in hematopoietic stem cell maintenance and acute myeloid leukemia. Following PhD, Hui Si pursued postdoctoral training at Yale University and subsequently Harvard University. During her postdoc studies, she systematically dissected the functional landscapes of epigenetic complexes in cancer using CRISPR-based mutational scanning approaches.
Hui Si is passionate about building a research group that fosters open scientific exchange, mentorship, and a supportive, and collaborative lab culture.
